Veronica Mars Torrent Fr Saison 1 Episode
So they're calling this the new Buffy. That's one hell of a reputation to live up to.
Crime After setting up a new business helping classmates dig up dirt on their parents, Veronica uncovers a huge revelation about her friend Mac, which leaves her wondering if some things. Season 1 Episode 11. Jackson Douglas: I don't care what they say about you, Veronica Mars, you rock!
I love television, but am always wary of the Next Big Thing because it's rarely the Next Good Thing; like cinema, most of the best stuff doesn't penetrate the mainstream. We all know that last year the coolest new show on the block was Lost - it was both popular and very well made - but it turns out that while everyone was busy fawning over the flashy new kid, they missed the quirky, cynical outsider standing in the corner with her hands in her pockets. She is, and once you get to know her the first thing you'll want to do is introduce her to all your friends. She's that cool. Veronica Mars is one damn fine television show.
Season 1 Veronica Mars
It's got quite a few excellent characters - namely the lead, played by the charming Kristen Bell - and some great edge-of-your-seat drama. There are twists. There are turns. There are plenty of laughs. And best of all when it's over you don't feel like you've been gypped. For my money the biggest problem with mystery shows (ala Lost) is that the mystery is constructed in such a way that when you reveal the secret, the show's done.
This leads to episode after episode of cliffhangers and teasers, and while that can be fun for a while, sooner or later it begins to grate. The first season of Veronica Mars is self-contained.
The pilot introduces the main mystery - a murder - and it's unraveled by the season's end. To add some spice, you've also got a handful of smaller mysteries that relate to the big picture. However, they're not constructed so that if one is revealed, you can immediately follow the thread back to the big ball of yarn. When the year is done you're both fulfilled and excited to see where the characters will go next.
And ultimately, that's what makes the show tick. The mystery is great, but even when that's out of the way you find that you're so attached to the characters you don't care if they're no longer putting together the pieces of a puzzle. The challenge for the showrunners then becomes coming up with more good mysteries for future seasons. Given the strong writing found in this first year I'm confident that the series can keep the good stuff coming. I'd love to see this show deal with a series-wide arc. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that it's not a good idea to review a show like this and go over too many plot points. Hell, I'd say that even discussing the pilot will ruin a few shocking surprises that are best left to the actors to reveal.
Even so, if you're a Mars newbie I'm sure you're curious: think Nancy Drew, having a bad day (or year), helps High School kids get out of trouble while trying to figure out who killed her best friend. While each episode follows a formula, a kid has a problem which Veronica helps solve, the overall flow of the season is kept in check because as Veronica solves small cases she also stumbles across pieces of the big puzzle. What's more, it helps that the individual mysteries have a degree of originality to them.
Veronica Mars Season 1 Episode Guide
Something that really caught me off guard was how certain characters developed over the course of the season. The biggest surprise came in the form of Logan Echolls (played by the wonderfully wry Jason Dohring). When the show starts off you'll hate this kid.

When he gets hurt, you smile. But somehow by the end of the season that initial impression will be turned upside down; you'll love the guy. If you weren't coming back for the mystery, you'd be coming back for Kristen Bell. Her turn as the cynical, but ultimately nice, Veronica is great fun.
Her interaction with her father, Keith Mars (Enrico Colantoni), is as good as a father/daughter relationship can get. Having a main character that gets pissed off and who tosses witty remarks is a formula for kick-ass. While I really liked this show, it's not the second-coming that some have made it out to be. Two things bothered me: one, some of the main characters are weak, and two, the ultimate resolution to the murder, while satisfying, isn't world-shattering. While Veronica, her dad, and Logan are all great characters, some of the supporting cast pales in comparison. Veronica's best friend Wallace (Percy Daggs III) is a nice guy, but ultimately boring. Same with Duncan Kane (Teddy Dunn), her former boyfriend.
Both guys get worked into the storyline, but it's not the characters themselves that keep you interested, it's what they contribute to the overall mystery. My second complaint, the resolution, isn't as much a complaint as it is something that could have been better. I liked the way everything played out, but I didn't get the Sixth Sense moment I was hoping for. I wanted the season finale to blow my mind, instead all it got out of me was, 'Ah, I see. That's cool.' For the show to warrant a perfect score, the finale needed to have me jumping up and down shouting, 'HOLY #&@$-ING $#!^.'
As you dig into the show you realize that its pace increases exponentially; it's at its best near the end. As the finale approaches you are led to believe that the murderer could be any one of several different people - not any easy thing to pull off convincingly. What makes good TV is audience participation. If you feel for a character or are puzzling out a mystery, you're involved. And when you're involved, you're having a good time. Veronica Mars is a very good time.
The murder of high-school student Lilly Kane shook the seaside town of Neptune, California to the core. For once popular girl Veronica Mars, it meant the loss of her best friend and being ousted from the affluent crowd that she once thought were her friends. Her father, Sheriff Keith Mars, found himself voted out of his job after making some unpopular accusations about the murdered girl's family. In response, Keith opened his own private detective agency. Now, Veronica, with her sardonic wit and a few new friends, works as his assistant while also navigating life as a high school (and later college) student. After reading quite a few comments from people who thought this show is 'horrible,' I was really surprised with their reasons. First of all, there are very few TV shows out there that are in every way true to life.
Of course the situations aren't completely plausible! That's why we watch TV shows in the first place - we're entertained by things that we would not normally do or see. If I wanted to watch something 'realistic' I'd just tape myself and watch it at the end of the day. What's real in this show is that every character is complicated and has layers in their personality. The bad guy isn't all bad, and the good guy isn't so great either.
There's just this gray area - just the way people are. Then there's the complaint that Veronica Mars is 'too smart.' And that's a bad thing because.? I'm sick of mindless shows that give away the ending in the first minute and/or have the same tired plots.
If witty is not your thing, that is sad and someone needs a good dose of 'sense of humor.' Maybe everything we watch on TV should be bland and predictable from now on? By the way, detective work is supposed to be logical - not flashy. When you want to look for someone, you'd automatically put a trace on things they own. What did you expect would happen?
Some kind of laser tracking thingy? The writing on this show is amazing, as are the actors and everything else. The artistic value is also incredible.
If TV watchers can't appreciate that, then I really am worried about the population.
